Sophie Cartwright

Volunteer Communications Advisor

Sophie is the Client Councils and Industry Trades Manager for Facebook across Europe, Middle East and Africa. She is responsible for overseeing two Client Councils in EMEA, coordinating the communications, meeting frequency and content strategy. Sophie also works with local markets across EMEA to implement a strategic trade body partnership plan. This involves providing regular counsel on their work, coordinating a single view back to the business of the activity, and scaling communications.

Prior to this role, Sophie led the Brand and Reputation Marketing pillar in the UK Global Business Marketing team at Facebook. She managed a speaker bench of over 35 people, including content development and training, and built a comprehensive industry engagement plan to bring Facebook to the market. Sophie ran core global marketing campaigns within this field locally, overseeing the media planning and buying. She maintained integral industry partnerships which were leveraged throughout the year for key activity, as well as leading the relationships with the industry trade bodies in the UK.

Before joining Facebook, Sophie led a corporate communications team at PR agency 3 Monkeys Zeno for 8 years. Most recently, her lead account was Starbucks across EMEA, managing an integrated partnership effort with 3MZ and Edelman for the corporate and consumer brief. Activity ranged from launching the company’s Holiday Red Cups, to developing initiatives around cup recycling. Other notable clients included Microsoft Advertising, Bing, Trustpilot, Lenovo, TGI Fridays and Hitwise.

Sophie grew up in Hornsey, and attended Fortismere School before going onto University at Oxford Brookes. She studied Media Communication and Culture. Sophie has an (almost) two year old son, Rudi and lives with her husband, Tom.
